Vendor Comments

It took us over a year to find this house and with it ticking every box on the first viewing it was bought on the same day. The larger 1920’s design, extra wide plot due to the garage/workshop and south facing garden made it a standout choice compared to all the other 3/4 bed semi’s we looked at. The road is exceptionally quiet and being 10 minutes from the airport, and a short walk from Birmingham rail links and dovehouse shops it has certainly proved a major factor in keeping us in the area. We purchased the house from a family that had been in it for almost all of its life and it therefore retained many of the original features which we knew would work well when we renovated it.

We took some time to decide on how to modernise the property and it was a local architect that came up with a plan that really has got the most out of the layout. The house was essentially gutted and now benefits from new wiring (including full av and network connections in every room), central heating, double glazing and full replastering. We decided to extend the downstairs to create a larger kitchen/ diner and lounge which both open up onto a patio that is excellent for entertaining or relaxing on summers days. The garden benefits from a ‘cottage garden’ feel near the house with many established roses providing a wonderful smell in the summer, and further away is a large seperate lawn which is great for children needing space to play. Being a hobby mechanic the large garage has kept me entertained and given its width we had gone as far as drawing up plans to create a 4th bedroom/ walk in and bathroom above it but while we have run out of time the possibility is there for the next owner. We originally planned to move on after around 3 years, but 8 years on it's only now that we have decided to find our next home.
