Vendor Comments

We have lived very happily in this house for almost 27 years, our neighbours are great and have been here as long, buying their house just a few months before us. Many of our neighbours have lived here a long time which indicates what a pleasant area it is to live in, with its quiet safe road and friendly community spirit. We all keep an eye out on each other’s property and happily take deliveries for each other, you couldn’t ask for nicer neighbours, being polite and friendly but not intrusive. All amenities are close, with easy access to the motorway, railway station, bus routes and all the local towns and shopping areas. The local shops on Dovehouse parade are within easy walking distance and you can get everything you need, if you don’t feel like going into Solihull, Shirley, Sheldon or Acocks Green, all of which are just a short drive or bus route away.

We extended our property 15 years ago, creating a five bedroomed house, which, with its lovely sunny garden, has been great for entertaining. We had some friends staying with us before they moved to their new build in Spain, and with a lounge and bathroom on either side of the house, plus two eating areas, we were able to live comfortably together as two families but had our own personal space as well.

We have retained many of the original features of the property, the oak strip flooring in the front room and art deco fireplace, the chimneybreast in the kitchen which houses a double range cooker and extractor and we instructed the architect to include a pantry in the new extension, as having had the original pantry for the first twelve years I did not want to lose this very useful storage space.

My partner has now retired, and the house is too big for just the two of us, however we love this area so much we have built a two bedroomed house on Ravenscroft Road so that I am still able to work locally and stay close to my family. We hope to buy a second property in Devon, where my partner can enjoy some of his retirement and we intend to commute between the two.

We have had many happy years in this unique, comfortable, traditional home with its sunny easily maintained garden, which offers so much potential for a family or extended family whom I am sure would love it as much as we have.
