We moved into our home over 3 years ago and fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. Although internally it's needed a lot of TLC, what really appealed to us was its splendid aspect. From the large 4 car drive set back from the road behind mature Oaks to the view from the conservatory of weeping Willows Sycamore and fir trees.
Because it is an older house set on an even older lane, it retains a little character, such as high ceilings, that is sometimes missing from the newer houses on Monkspath. Yet being on Monkspath it still has all the benefits of the area such as easy access to Solihull and the motorway.
One of the happiest memories of living here is the less than 5 minutes walk to Hillfield park with our young boys. Out of the house along the path behind old hedgerows with apple trees sweet chestnut trees and sloe bushes, past the lake to feed the ducks and then onto the playground itself. Walk five minutes in the other direction along the safe tree covered paths to get to Shelly Farm with it's pub/restaurant, shops, Chinese takeaway, chip shop, GP and Monkspath Primary School.
Over the last 3 years we have replaced the boiler, fitted a new kitchen, replaced the conservatory roof and refurbished the bathroom amongst other things. So, although we now feel we have got just about everything the way we want it, a change in our circumstances means we have to leave Hay Lane much earlier than we planned. We will feel genuinely sad to leave, but get comfort from the fact that it will make a wonderful home for a new family.
