Vendor Comments

My aunt and uncle bought this house off-plan in 1955 and moved in on their wedding day. It was their home for over 60 years, Aunty eventually moving into residential care in 2017.

They didn’t have children and ploughed their love and attention into the property. Aunty was a personal assistant working for the Electricity Board and enjoyed improving the house with the latest electrical gizmos. Uncle was a highly skilled cabinet maker, working for Edmonds. He loved to make furniture for the house and had the large window put in the garage to make it a practical workshop. Family legend has it that some of the left-overs from a case made for the crown jewels was used in cabinetry for the house.  In the 1970s they extended the kitchen, lounge and garage and built the utility room. They were extremely house-proud, keeping the house meticulously tidy.

Aunty and Uncle planned the large south west facing garden from scratch and became very knowledgeable and skilled gardeners. They remained passionate about gardening all their lives. The conservatory was added in 1995, to enjoy the garden throughout the year.
In their retirement they would make the 10-minute walk to Olton station every Saturday to go shopping at the Bull Ring.  They always felt very safe in Olton and had kind, supportive neighbours in their later years.

This was a much-loved home.
