Laura and I have lived here since the summer of 2013, after spending four years renting just down the road in the centre of Dorridge.  We love the location - it’s quiet, family friendly and perfect for commuting into the centre of Birmingham with the station only a 15 minute walk which serves both Birmingham and London via the Chiltern line.  Birmingham International is also only a 10 minute taxi ride away.  Bentley Heath park is literally behind the house, and Dorridge park only 5 minutes on the bike - we’ve loved cycle rides with our 3 year old down to the park.  The new Sainsburys at Dorridge is perfect for little and large shopping trips and there is also a Co-Op/Post Office a 5 minute walk up Slater Road.   The motorway is only 5 minutes in the car and the house is in the catchment of great primary and secondary schools.

We have made a lot of changes to the property since we moved in.  Having only one owner since it was built in the 50’s, we knew it needed some modernisation to make it into our family home.  We changed all of the flooring, built a new bathroom, decorated all rooms, had central heating installed and made the garden more manageable.  Last year we added a large extension giving us a great kitchen diner which is the heart of our home and where we spend a lot of time.  We also added a small office (big enough for a double sofa bed or single bed) and linked the house to the outside store to create a utility room and downstairs toilet.  We also had one side of the plot turned into a driveway so now you can easily fit 3 cars should you need to.  Being on the corner plot, there is still a sizeable front garden and small rear garden perfect for our daughter, but still great scope to do more to the property - the loft space is huge and further extensions are in theory possible on both sides of the main house.

The time has come for us to move onto a new project, but we are not moving far - just 3 minutes down the road.  We’ve made a lot of memories here, it is our daughter’s first home and we will be sad to leave.
