We’ve loved living at 37 Alston Road. We looked at about 30 houses and flats when we were house-hunting and were first attracted to the lovely garden here. We could see that it was a home that we could grow into.  

As young professionals, we enjoyed some great parties with friends in the house and garden, and loved being able to walk home after a night out in Solihull town centre. Now we have a toddler, we still like to stroll into Solihull at the weekend, but we drink more coffee than cocktails these days.

It’s been a brilliant home, with plenty of space inside and out. The garden is big, bright and private, and has plenty of safe space for our son to play in whilst we are busy growing fruit and veg. There are great shops, takeaways and two good parks within walking distance and even more a short drive away. You can get onto the canal just round the corner and within a few minutes you can be in the countryside and it feels a million miles away from the town. In the summer, we often walk down the canal to The Boat pub in Catherine-de-Barnes.  

About 5 years ago, we went travelling for a year and had no problems renting the house out to a family with two young daughters. When we moved back in, we set about modernising the house - replacing the boiler, fitting a new kitchen and bathroom and redecorating. The double shower head is still a treat!

We’ve made so many happy memories here. After nearly 10 years, it feels like the right time for us to move on, but we’re sure the new owners will be as happy here as we’ve been.
