Vendor Comments

My wife was born in Dorridge and has spent all her life in either Knowle or Dorridge and wouldn’t entertain living anywhere else.  That’s fine for me because I always liked the area and now having lived many years in Knowle, I feel the same as she does, I just love the area and such a great place to live.

Alas, we have reached a time in our lives that we now seek a house and home ideally in Knowle, which is smaller. All our children are happily married and have fled the nest and that leaves us in a lovely house with a large garden but I’m finding the ageing process prevents me enjoying maintaining the property and particularly the gardens as I used to.

What we particularly like about our position in Wychwood Avenue is its close proximity to Knowle, which is only a ten minute walk away.  This has such a great advantage when dining/drinking out in Knowle with its great choice of cuisine including English, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, Thai, Fish restaurant, Turkish and four pubs, a Scandinavian bar and five excellent Indian restaurants plus the Greswolde Hotel. 18 restaurants in Knowle Village alone and no reason to use a taxi unless of course the weather is awful. For those special occasions, Hampton Manor the former home of Sir Robert Peel who was Prime Minister and the founder of our police force is now a family owned Michelin starred restaurant and hotel and Hogarths Hotel and restaurant offer superb cuisine and accommodation and only a ten minute drive away.

Our children  enjoyed excellent education at Arden Academy, which is one of two highly rated schools in Knowle besides Dorridge Primary, which is only half a mile away from Knowle.

Knowle is steeped in history with its beautiful church, John The Baptist being consecrated in 1403.

Before I retired, I travelled the length and breadth of the UK with infrequent business trips abroad. I couldn’t have asked for a more central area to live than Knowle, with Birmingham International Airport and Birmingham International railway station and the NEC and Resorts World only 5 miles away. Dorridge railway station on the Chiltern Line 2 miles away and junction 5 of the M42 only half a mile from my house reduced my journey times down considerably both going to and returning from meetings etc.

Most of our day to day shopping requirements can be found in Knowle village but when we require those larger stores, John Lewis, House of Frazer etc. then  Solihull Town is not two miles away with a frequent bus service if you want to leave the car at home.

Knowle is a very rural village surrounded by countryside, canal walks a lovely park  and right on our doorstep Wychwoods, containing many acres of dense woodlands full of wildlife the entrance is a two minute walk from our house.

For those who are not familiar with the area, then just look at a map with such wonderful places of interest less than an hours drive, like Stratford Upon Avon and Warwick with its castle just 30 minutes away. Broadway in the Cotswolds and Worcester less than an hour plus many National Trust places to visit, we just love it!
